Right now, millions of students are going back to school. This time of new beginnings offers wonderful opportunities to connect with your prayer partners – even if you’re not directly involved in campus or education ministry. Here are three ways to engage your ministry partners right now:
1. Ask for prayer for this new season of ministry and outreach
Because ministry activity often follows the academic calendar, this is a very dynamic (and often hectic!) time of year for any type of mission work. New friendships are forming, Bible study groups are launching, and spiritual conversations are taking place. Invite your ministry partners to cover all these events and interactions in prayer, because their intercession is essential for these new seeds to grow and bear fruit.
Timeliness and specificity are especially helpful when mobilizing prayer. Let your prayer partners know about specific outreach events when they occur, and follow up to let them know how the Lord answered their prayers. Including quotes from those you serve can bring your work to life and testify to God’s faithfulness.
Reminder: If you work in student ministry, please use discernment and good judgment when it comes to privacy and security. If the students you serve are at risk of persecution, consider using pseudonyms and exercise caution when sharing photos/videos.
2. Ask for prayer for your family’s back-to-school needs
Our research shows that ministry partners care deeply for mission workers and their families. During a busy ministry season, it can be easy to put less emphasis on personal soul care or your children’s discipleship. So don’t be shy about asking for prayer for your own needs. Your supporters love you and understand that your physical, emotional, and spiritual health are vitally important.
3. Pray for your ministry partners, as well as their children and grandchildren
The back-to-school season is a wonderful time to care for your ministry partners. Let them know that you are praying for them by sending individual messages, written prayers, or recorded voice prayers.
At Prayvine, we are grateful for your faithfulness in serving the Lord, and for the ministry partners who are running the race with you. Know that we are praying for you, and please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can support you.
